THE OLDEST CITADEL IN LATIN AMERICA
Vichama is part of the Caral archaeological complex and dates back to between 3000 and 1800 BC. It was a fishing community and one of the cities of the Caral civilization, the oldest in the Americas, flourishing alongside Mesopotamian, Egyptian, and Chinese civilizations. The site includes monumental pyramids and unique architectural structures. Archaeological findings reveal the impact of climate change on these ancient societies, including droughts and famines, which influenced migration patterns and cultural developments.
The Caral civilization is notable for its early urban planning, agriculture, and social organization, and Vichama offers insight into its later phases and adaptation strategies.
Huacho is known as the "Capital of Hospitality". This tour is an excellent opportunity to combine exploring new places with tasting typical Peruvian dishes.
